Prime Minister Sharif to lead Pakistani delegation in World Economic Forum

ISLAMABAD: Leading a high level Pakistan government delegation Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF).

In a post on X, PM Shehbaz wrote that he arrived to advance Pakistan’s engagement at the WEF with global trade and investment partners.

A video included with the post showed him disembarking from his plane, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.

“Pakistan’s ongoing economic reform journey is unlocking profound opportunities, driven by a resilient and entrepreneurial workforce and significant potential across energy, agriculture, minerals, and emerging technologies,” PM Shehbaz said.

He added that Pakistan was “ready to harness this potential into mutually beneficial economic cooperation and long-term investment”.

Both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will hold meetings with important world leaders on the sidelines of Davos world Economic Forum.

The Prime Minister’s programme includes multiple substantive engagements, including participation in the WEF’s Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL)’ session on “Restoring a Spirit of Dialogue in a Divided World”.

The Prime Minister will also host/chair a Pakistan-specific “High-level Business Roundtable” with different corporate leaders.

On the sidelines, the Prime Minister is expected to interact with several world leaders, including business executives.

Articulating Pakistan’s perspective on global and regional peace and development and highlighting the government’s vision and achievements in the areas of economy, trade and investment opportunities will be part of the Prime Minister’s key messages during the visit.

The WEF Annual Meeting brings together political leaders, business executives, heads of international organizations and civil society representatives. It deliberates on contemporary geopolitical, economic, social and environmental issues.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an independent international non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to improving the state of the world through public-private cooperation. Founded in 1971 by German engineer and economist Klaus Schwab, it is headquartered in Cologny, Switzerland.

The WEF is most famous for its high-level annual summit held every January in the mountain resort of Davos, Switzerland. The 2026 Annual Meeting (January 19–23) is held under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue” and focuses on global cooperation, responsible innovation, and economic resilience.
