Uzbekistan to contribute to the construction of housing, kindergartens, schools, and hospitals in Gaza

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took part in the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington. The event, chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump, was also attended by the heads of delegations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Argentina, Paraguay, Romania, Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan, Hungary, Albania, Armenia, Vietnam, Cambodia, the UAE, Türkiye, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Morocco, and other states.

Issues of reconstruction and humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip, as well as the need to ensure peace and stability in the region, were discussed.

In his address, the President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the U.S. President and Chairman of the Board of Peace, Donald Trump, for convening the first summit. It was noted that Uzbekistan supported the peacekeeping initiative to establish the Board of Peace, firmly expressing its intention to participate actively in its successful implementation. It was emphasized that any external governance mechanism for Gaza must rely on the domestic support of its population. Confidence was expressed that the coordinated efforts of all parties would ensure the sustainability of the post-conflict process and create conditions for the swift recovery of Gaza.

The Head of State announced Uzbekistan’s readiness to make a meaningful contribution to the construction of residential buildings, kindergartens, schools, and hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

“Our meeting is a vivid manifestation of international solidarity, peacebuilding, and a common aspiration to improve the situation in the Middle East. We need to take this historic opportunity to create a New Gaza with a thriving economy and decent living conditions for its population”, the President noted.

During his working visit to Washington, the Uzbek Leader also held meetings with business representatives. Talks with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick focused on practical steps to strengthen the Uzbekistan – U.S. strategic partnership and advance cooperation in priority sectors.

The United States was noted as one of Uzbekistan’s key partners, with bilateral trade exceeding $1 billion and nearly 340 American companies operating in Uzbekistan. Both sides emphasized the need to leverage the recently established Business Council and launch an Investment Platform to support priority projects.
