Pakistani government ministers accused the Afghan Taliban government of fighting a proxy war on behalf of the Indian government.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that from now on there would be an “open war” with Afghan Taliban who had been supporting Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan in their attacks on Pakistani military, government and civilian populations.
The armed conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which started early this week have intensified with both sides targeting sites deep inside each other’s territory.

Pakistani Air Force in its air strikes have targeted two brigade headquarters in Kabul, and one Corps Headquarters and one Brigade Headquarters in Kandahar.

A senior Pakistani official said that a total of 104 Afghan military posts have been reported destroyed as of February 28, 2026. Specific locations hit include the Aala Jirga Thana post, Karzai Post, and several posts near Angoor Adda.
According to Pakistani estimates a total of 171 tanks and armored vehicles have been destroyed across 37 different locations. An ammunition depot and a logistics base in Kandahar, as well as the Barikot Base Camp and Durrani Camp reportedly used by the TTP.  Pakistan claims to have killed over 331 Afghan Taliban operatives and injured more than 500 others during the ongoing strikes.

In the fighting going on, on the Pak-Afghan border areas, Pakistan has captured 26 military Post Captured from where Afghan Taliban soldiers fled back into their territory.

Afghan Taliban have also attempted to send pilotless drones into Pakistani territory which reportedly attacked civilian sites. However no significant damage has been caused by these drones.

In response to escalating border tensions and “open hostilities” with Afghanistan, the Pakistani government has indeed imposed an immediate nationwide ban on the flying of all drones, quadcopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Ministry of Interior issued a notification on February 27, 2026, prohibiting all outdoor drone operations across Pakistan until further notice.

The restrictions generally do not apply to law enforcement, intelligence agencies, or authorized government personnel. In some provinces like Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the use of small drones for indoor events (e.g., in halls or marquees) remains permitted.
