Missile Launched From Iran Towards Türkiye Destroyed: Ankara

Missile launched from Iran towards Türkiye destroyed: Ankara

Türkiye’s Defence Ministry said a ballistic missile launched from Iran and heading toward Turkish airspace was intercepted and destroyed by NATO air defence systems over the eastern Mediterranean Sea, authorities confirmed. The missile had crossed Syrian and Iraqi airspace before being engaged, and no casualties or damage have been reported.

Officials reiterated Türkiye’s right to defend its territory and warned all parties against actions that could further escalate regional tensions. Analysts noted that the interception highlights the volatility of the ongoing Middle East conflict and the importance of coordinated air defence measures to prevent unintended escalation.

Diplomats and security experts have urged restraint, underlining that miscalculations could draw neighbouring states deeper into hostilities amid a broader regional confrontation involving multiple actors.
