Opposition slams govt’s ‘inflation bomb’ after fuel price hike, demands reversal
Opposition parties in Pakistan have strongly criticised the government following a fresh increase in fuel prices, calling it an “inflation bomb” that would further burden citizens already struggling with rising living costs.
Leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and other opposition groups demanded that the government immediately reverse the hike, warning that higher petroleum prices would trigger increases in transport fares and essential commodities.
Government officials, however, said the adjustment was necessary due to fluctuations in global oil prices and fiscal pressures. Economic analysts noted that fuel price changes often have a direct impact on inflation and public sentiment.
