Ruet-i-Hilal Committee to meet today to sight Shawwal moon
The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee is set to meet today to sight the Shawwal moon, which will determine the date of Eid ul-Fitr across Pakistan. The meeting will be chaired by the committee’s chairman and attended by religious scholars, meteorological experts and other officials.
Authorities said zonal committees across the country will also hold parallel meetings to collect moon sighting testimonies. The final announcement regarding the sighting will be made after reviewing evidence from different regions.
Officials added that citizens are encouraged to report moon sightings to the relevant authorities, while stressing that the official decision by the committee will be considered final for the observance of Eid celebrations.
