Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) chief and PTI-backed Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas has been appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, ending a vacancy that lasted several months. The Senate Chairman, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, issued the formal notification after Abbas secured the support of opposition senators and complied with parliamentary rules. The post had remained empty since the disqualification of the previous opposition leader in August 2025.
