Iran urges US to drop ‘excessive demands’ to reach deal
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that the United States must drop its “excessive demands” if both sides are to reach a diplomatic deal, following another round of talks held in Geneva. Araghchi explained that success requires seriousness, realism, and avoidance of miscalculations from both parties involved in the negotiations.
Analysts noted that the remarks come amid ongoing indirect negotiations mediated by Oman, where key issues including Iran’s nuclear programme and sanctions relief remain points of contention between Tehran and Washington.
Diplomatic observers have said that while progress has been reported, significant gaps persist, and continued engagement is essential to prevent further escalation in the region.
