No Need For 28th Constitutional Amendment, Says Raza Rabbani

Former Senate chairman Raza Rabbani has said that there is no need for a 28th Constitutional Amendment, arguing that existing constitutional provisions are sufficient to address current governance and political issues.

Speaking on the matter, he stressed that repeated constitutional amendments risk weakening institutional stability and urged policymakers to focus on proper implementation of the Constitution rather than introducing new changes.

Rabbani added that any major constitutional reform should be undertaken only after broad political consensus, warning against unilateral or rushed legislative steps.

His remarks come amid ongoing political discussions and speculation regarding possible constitutional amendments in the country.

Analysts say the statement reflects continuing debate over constitutional evolution, institutional balance, and the role of consensus in Pakistan’s legislative process.
