US, Iran Exchange New Strikes In Latest Gulf Escalation
The United States and Iran exchanged fresh military strikes in the Gulf region, marking the latest escalation in tensions despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at preserving a fragile ceasefire.
According to US military officials, American forces intercepted multiple Iranian drones and carried out strikes on Iranian coastal radar and surveillance sites after what Washington described as threats to regional maritime security near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, meanwhile, said it responded with missile and drone operations targeting US-linked military assets and accused Washington of violating previous understandings regarding regional security and navigation in Gulf waters.
The latest confrontation has raised concerns among Gulf nations, with Kuwait and Bahrain condemning the attacks and activating defensive measures amid fears of a broader regional conflict.
The exchange comes as negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue over ceasefire arrangements, sanctions relief, and broader security issues, although several key disagreements remain unresolved.
Analysts say continued military clashes could further complicate diplomatic efforts and increase risks to regional stability, energy markets, and global shipping routes through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
