PMD Forecasts Nationwide Monsoon Rains From Early July

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread monsoon rainfall across the country from the first week of July, with rain and thunderstorms expected in several regions.

According to the PMD, the incoming monsoon system is likely to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Weather officials have warned that heavy downpours in vulnerable areas could lead to urban flooding, flash floods, and landslides, particularly in hilly regions.

Authorities have advised provincial administrations and relevant departments to remain alert and take precautionary measures to minimise the impact of severe weather.

The PMD has also urged the public to stay updated with official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and thunderstorms.

Analysts say the upcoming monsoon spell is expected to provide relief from the ongoing heat but may also pose challenges for infrastructure, transportation, and disaster management.
