Israel Says Troops To Remain In Lebanon Indefinitely

Israel’s Defence Minister has said Israeli troops will remain in Lebanon “indefinitely,” signaling that military operations and deployments along the border will continue despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions.

Speaking during a media briefing, the defence minister said the continued military presence is necessary to address security concerns and maintain operational readiness in southern Lebanon.

The remarks come amid persistent cross-border hostilities and renewed international calls for restraint and a lasting ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

Lebanese officials have repeatedly called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces, arguing that their continued presence violates Lebanon’s sovereignty and undermines regional stability.

International mediators have urged all parties to pursue dialogue and avoid actions that could further escalate tensions in the region.

Analysts say Israel’s decision to maintain troops in Lebanon is likely to complicate ongoing diplomatic efforts and could prolong instability along the Lebanon-Israel border.
