France & US Hold ‘Constructive’ Talks on Red Sea, Macron Says

French President Emmanuel Macron said he held “very constructive” talks with US President Donald Trump on the security situation in the Red Sea and wider Middle East.

The meeting took place in New York ahead of the United Nations General Assembly, with the two leaders discussing maritime security, energy supplies and developments in the region.

Macron said France and the United States discussed diplomatic options aimed at improving navigation through key regional waterways and addressing disruptions affecting global energy markets.

The discussions also covered the war in Ukraine and possible measures to protect energy infrastructure, highlighting the broader security and economic concerns facing Europe and its allies.

Macron described the meeting positively, while further diplomatic discussions are expected as international leaders gather for the UN General Assembly.
