China’s DeepSeek to Give AI Briefing to UN Security Council
Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek is set to brief the United Nations Security Council on the risks and implications of artificial intelligence, marking a significant international discussion on emerging technology and security.
DeepSeek is among several AI companies invited to contribute to the Security Council meeting in New York during the UN General Assembly. Its founder, Liang Wenfeng, is not expected to attend.
The meeting will focus on the growing impact of AI on international security, including concerns over cyber risks, autonomous systems and the potential misuse of advanced technology.
The briefing comes as governments and technology companies increasingly call for international cooperation and safeguards to manage the risks associated with rapidly advancing AI systems.
The discussions are expected to highlight differing approaches among major powers while increasing attention on global standards and responsible AI development.
