Three Traffic Policemen Martyred in Attack on Vehicle in KP’s Tank

Three traffic policemen were martyred when unidentified armed men opened fire on a traffic police mobile van in the Wazirabad Bazaar area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, according to police.

District Police Officer Abdul Samad Khan said the attackers fled after the assault and took the traffic police vehicle with them. The vehicle was later recovered from the Gara Budha area, according to police.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector and two passers-by were also injured in the firing and were shifted to hospital for treatment.

Following the attack, police cordoned off roads and other possible escape routes in the area and launched a search operation to trace and arrest the suspects. The motive and identity of the attackers were not immediately established.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed grief over the deaths and sought a report from senior authorities. He also directed officials to ensure medical treatment for those injured in the attack.

The incident comes amid a series of recent attacks targeting security personnel and civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including deadly incidents in Tank and neighbouring districts.
