Pakistan Tests Extended-Range Fatah-2 Missile After May 2025 Conflict
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army Tuesday conducted successful test launch of Hypersonic Ballistic Missile, Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER), ISPR said in a media statement
The official announcement said that the weapon system is equipped with advanced navigation and state of the art avionics.
“It is capable of engaging targets with high precision and defeating enemy’s Missile Defence Systems due to its unique trajectory and maneuverability features. Fatah-2 ER with it’s extended range will further enhance Army’s reach and capability of engaging deep targets”.
Today’s launch was witnessed by Commander Army Rocket Force Command (Comd ARFC), senior officers from Pakistan Army and committed scientists and engineers. Commander ARFC appreciated the dedication and technical prowess of scientists and engineers.
The President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces and Services Chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on successful test launch of Extended Range version of Fatah-2 weapon system.
Pakistan used Fatah-I and Fatah-II missiles during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos on May 10, 2025, in response to Indian strikes. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the missiles were employed against Indian military targets alongside air-launched precision weapons, loitering munitions and artillery.
The Fatah systems provided the Pakistan Army with a ground-launched conventional strike capability, complementing the Pakistan Air Force’s operations. However, Pakistan did not publicly disclose a target-by-target breakdown of their use, and independent assessments have not established the precise damage inflicted by either missile variant.
The May 2025 conflict demonstrated the operational role of the Fatah family in Pakistan’s conventional military response. The latest test of the extended-range Fatah-2 variant aims to increase the Army’s reach, although its specific range and technical performance have not been disclosed in the announcement.
