Google, Amazon Accused of Secret Data Pact with Israel
Israel Demanded Google, Amazon Use Secret Code To Bypass Legal Obligations, Investigation Reveals | NAM NEWS TV
An international investigation has uncovered that Google and Amazon allegedly agreed to use a secret “code” system with the Israeli government to signal compliance with foreign data requests under government orders.
The arrangement is reportedly tied to “Project Nimbus,” a $1.2 billion cloud computing contract signed in 2021, under which payments were automatically triggered within 24 hours through coded alerts indicating that the companies had complied.
Leaked documents also suggest that the contract bars Google and Amazon from suspending services to Israeli state agencies, even if their technologies are used in human-rights-sensitive operations.
Both tech giants have denied wrongdoing, but legal experts warn that such mechanisms could breach international data protection and human rights laws.
