Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar described the launch of Pakistan’s first assembly line for Google Chromebooks as a “historic milestone,” highlighting its potential to boost local manufacturing and digital inclusion. The facility, set up in partnership with international tech firms, will produce laptops designed for education and cloud-based learning. Dar said this development aligns with Pakistan’s strategy to expand its IT exports and reduce reliance on imports. He also noted that the initiative opens opportunities for youth employment, skill building and strengthening the country’s position in the global tech supply chain.
