China Hopes US-Iran War Won’t Restart After Failed Islamabad Talks
China hopes US, Iran will not reignite war after Islamabad talks fail to reach agreement
China has expressed hope that the United States and Iran will avoid reigniting conflict following the failure of high-stakes talks in Islamabad.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson urged all parties to adhere to the existing ceasefire and continue resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means. Beijing emphasized the importance of restraint and called for efforts to create conditions for lasting peace in the Gulf region.
The statement came after marathon negotiations in Pakistan ended without an agreement, despite being the highest-level direct engagement between Washington and Tehran in decades. Key disagreements over Iran’s nuclear programme and control of strategic routes such as the Strait of Hormuz prevented a breakthrough.
Analysts say China’s response reflects broader global concerns that the fragile ceasefire could collapse, potentially triggering renewed hostilities and further disrupting global energy markets. Beijing has reiterated its support for continued dialogue and diplomatic solutions to prevent escalation.
