Iranian FM Araghchi expected to arrive in Islamabad tonight, Pakistani sources say

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad tonight along with a small diplomatic delegation, according to Pakistani government and security sources, as diplomatic activity intensifies ahead of a possible second round of US–Iran talks.

Officials say Pakistan is preparing to host renewed negotiations between Washington and Tehran, following earlier discussions that took place under Islamabad’s mediation but ended without a final breakthrough. The latest visit is being seen as part of continued efforts to revive stalled dialogue.

Sources indicate that a US logistics and security team is already present in Islamabad to support any upcoming talks, while Pakistani authorities have increased security measures in key areas of the capital in anticipation of high-level diplomatic movement.

The Iranian delegation is expected to first hold consultations with Pakistani leadership before any potential engagement linked to US–Iran discussions. However, it remains unclear whether direct talks between Iranian and American officials will take place during this round.

Diplomatic observers say the visit underscores Pakistan’s growing role as a facilitator in regional peace efforts, though significant differences between Washington and Tehran continue to pose challenges to a lasting agreement.
