Iran Dismisses GCC’s Allegations About Tehran’s Retaliatory Strikes as ‘Groundless’

Iran dismisses GCC’s allegations about Tehran’s retaliatory strikes as ‘groundless’

Iran has rejected allegations made by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regarding its recent retaliatory strikes, describing the claims as “groundless” and lacking factual basis amid escalating regional tensions.

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, the accusations against Tehran are “unfounded and baseless,” with officials insisting that Iran’s actions were carried out in self-defense following what it describes as aggression by the United States and its allies.

Baghaei emphasized that Iran remains committed to principles of good neighborliness and respect for sovereignty, while accusing some GCC member states of indirectly supporting military operations against Iran. He argued that Tehran’s responses were aligned with international law and aimed at protecting national security.

The GCC, however, has previously condemned Iran’s actions, accusing Tehran of targeting infrastructure and threatening regional stability. Gulf officials have described such strikes as violations of international norms and warned of their impact on energy security and broader regional peace.

The exchange highlights growing tensions between Iran and Gulf states, as both sides trade accusations over military actions and involvement in the wider conflict involving the United States and Israel.

Analysts say the situation reflects deepening divisions in the region, with competing narratives further complicating diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore stability.
