Dar discusses Middle East situation, its economic implications with Kuwaiti FM: FO
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a key discussion with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya on the evolving situation in the Middle East and its economic implications, according to the Foreign Office.
During the conversation, both sides exchanged views on the ongoing regional tensions, particularly in light of disruptions to global energy markets and trade routes. Dar highlighted concerns over rising oil prices and their impact on Pakistan’s economy, stressing the need for stability in the region.
Officials said the two leaders also discussed broader economic challenges arising from the conflict, including inflationary pressures, supply chain disruptions, and the strain on import-dependent economies. The importance of keeping critical maritime routes open, especially the Strait of Hormuz, was also emphasized.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to regional stability and underscored the importance of diplomatic engagement to de-escalate tensions. Both sides agreed on the need for coordinated international efforts to avoid further economic fallout.
Pakistan and Kuwait also reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in trade, energy cooperation, and investment, while maintaining close coordination on regional and global issues.
Analysts say such engagements reflect Pakistan’s active diplomatic outreach as it seeks to manage the economic impact of the Middle East crisis while supporting efforts aimed at restoring stability.
