PM Shehbaz Orders Full Digitisation of Overseas Remittances

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that remittances sent from abroad be fully digitised to improve efficiency, transparency, and ease of transactions.

During a high-level meeting, the prime minister emphasized the need to modernize the remittance system and encourage greater use of secure digital channels by overseas Pakistanis.

Officials said the initiative aims to streamline the transfer process, reduce delays, and strengthen financial inclusion while enhancing the country’s foreign exchange inflows.

The government also reviewed measures to facilitate expatriates and further improve services related to cross-border financial transactions.

PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the government’s commitment to leveraging digital technology to strengthen Pakistan’s financial system and support economic growth.

Analysts say the move could boost investor confidence, increase formal remittance flows, and make financial services more accessible for overseas Pakistanis.
