Trump Eyes ‘New America’ as Possible New Name for New Mexico
US President Donald Trump has suggested “New America” as a possible new name for New Mexico, drawing attention to the state’s long-standing name and identity.
The proposal comes as Trump raises the idea of changing the state’s name, potentially replacing the traditional reference to Mexico with a name linked directly to the United States.
The suggestion has sparked discussion over the state’s history, identity, and the significance of its current name.
Any move to rename New Mexico would represent a major change and could lead to broader debate among residents and policymakers.
The proposal adds another political and cultural discussion surrounding the identity and history of the US state.
