Ukraine Launches Biggest Drone Attack on Russia as Vote Takes Place

Ukraine launched a major drone attack on Russia as the country held the final day of its parliamentary elections, with Moscow officials describing the assault as the largest drone attack on the capital since the war began.

The strikes targeted Moscow and surrounding areas, with Russian authorities reporting that hundreds of drones were directed toward the capital. An oil refinery facility and residential buildings were also damaged, while casualties were reported in the Moscow region.

The attack came as Russian voters were casting ballots in parliamentary elections, adding to security concerns during the final day of voting. Russian officials also reported cyberattacks affecting election-related systems.

Moscow accused Kyiv of seeking to disrupt the election, while Ukraine has continued using long-range drones and other domestically produced weapons against targets inside Russia. Russia has vowed to intensify its strikes on Kyiv in response.

The latest escalation highlights the continuing intensity of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with long-range attacks increasingly reaching major population centres far from the front lines.
