Pakistan Tells UNSC AI Must Not Become Part of Arms Race
Pakistan has told the United Nations Security Council that artificial intelligence must not become another area of the global arms race, warning of its implications for international peace and security.
Pakistan highlighted concerns over the growing use of AI in military operations, particularly autonomous weapons and AI-driven systems.
The country stressed the need for international cooperation and stronger safeguards to address the security, legal and ethical challenges associated with military AI.
Pakistan also called for a central role for the United Nations in developing a multilateral response to the risks posed by AI in the military domain.
The remarks come as the Security Council continues discussions on AI and its growing impact on international peace and security.
