Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan to End After Nine Seasons

Karan Johar has announced that the upcoming ninth season of his popular celebrity talk show Koffee With Karan will be its final season, bringing the programme’s 22-year run to an end.

The show first premiered in 2004, with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as its opening guests, and went on to become a regular feature of Bollywood entertainment and celebrity culture.

Johar said the decision to end the programme was emotional and personal. He explained that he wants to devote the next decade of his career more fully to filmmaking and telling stories through cinema.

Over the years, the show became known for candid celebrity conversations, rapid-fire segments and revelations that frequently generated headlines and social-media discussions.

The final season will stream exclusively on JioHotstar from October 14, with Johar describing it as one last opportunity to return to the show’s familiar couch and connect with viewers.

Johar has expressed gratitude to the audience for continuing to support the programme through its many seasons, controversies and memorable celebrity moments.

The conclusion of Koffee With Karan marks the end of one of India’s longest-running celebrity chat-show franchises, while Johar prepares to focus more of his time on filmmaking and other creative projects.
