Pakistan Summons Indian Envoy Over Killing of 2 Civilians
Pakistan has summoned India’s Chargé d’Affaires to lodge a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani civilians by Indian Border Security Force personnel in the Bedian Sector along the international border.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the incident occurred on October 2, with another civilian reportedly injured. Pakistan said the victims were unarmed civilians and rejected their characterization as “infiltrators.”
Pakistan called for an immediate, transparent and credible investigation into the incident and urged India to take appropriate legal and disciplinary action against those found responsible.
The Foreign Office said the incident raised concerns regarding the protection of civilian life and called for respect for international law, established border procedures and maximum restraint.
Indian media, citing security officials, reported a different account, describing the deceased as suspected intruders. The differing accounts have added to tensions surrounding the border incident.
