Portugal Coach and Federation Welcome Ronaldo Return

Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus and the Portuguese Football Federation have expressed openness to Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the national team following his unexpected departure from the squad.

Ronaldo left the training camp after being left on the bench during Portugal’s victory over Norway and learning he would not start against Denmark. The 41-year-old forward later indicated that he would explain the reasons behind his decision.

Jesus said Ronaldo’s return remains his own decision and stressed the striker’s importance to the national team. Portugal have continued their Nations League campaign successfully in Ronaldo’s absence, securing their place in the quarter-finals.

The situation has raised questions over Ronaldo’s international future, but the coach and federation have kept the door open for a return. Federation president Pedro Proença described the episode as a misunderstanding and reaffirmed Ronaldo’s importance to Portugal.

Ronaldo remains Portugal’s all-time leading scorer, and his potential return would add significant experience and attacking quality to the squad as the team continues its Nations League campaign.
