HBL PSL 12: Agreement on Retention and Auction Rules at Operations Workshop
An operations workshop was held as part of preparations for HBL Pakistan Super League Season 12, finalizing the framework for the league.
The workshop was led by PSL CEO Salman Naseer. All 8 franchises reached full consensus on retention rules, player auction terms, and squad sizes.
It was decided at the workshop that the deadline for retaining players will be January 13. This date was set keeping the National T20 Cup schedule in view so that local players can perform in domestic matches and win the franchises’ confidence.
Other key decisions included the determination of the salary cap. The salary cap for each franchise has been set at 450 million rupees, which will increase to 505 million rupees in case of direct signings. In the auction, each franchise will be required to spend a minimum of 365 million rupees.
Each franchise will be able to retain a maximum of 7 players; however, any franchise retaining a full 7 players must release its most expensive player from the previous auction. The direct signing process will run until November 23, and franchises will only be able to sign foreign players who have not participated in the last two PSL seasons.
Salman Naseer said that today was significant not only in terms of decisions but also regarding the spirit of consensus, as all franchises fully cooperated and unanimously approved the auction rules.
